The course introduces the field of user experience design — designing, understanding, analyzing and correctly interpreting the various methods of planning the user experience, with a strong emphasis on content strategy for web-based communication.

User-Centered Design (UCD)
Introduction to the narrow understanding of User Experience Design. Defining user-centered design with an emphasis on web design, and presenting an original tool for diagnosing user needs.
Terminology
An overview of the core terminology used throughout the UX design process.
Information Architecture
Information architecture and navigation: examples, key elements, best practices. Using prior knowledge to build a sample website structure.
Wireframes
Introduction to techniques and a review of selected tools for designing functional wireframes.
Page anatomy: Content Pages
Key elements of a well-designed website: homepage and content pages (e.g. about, blog article, FAQ) — main elements, examples and best practices.
Page anatomy: Checkout & E-commerce
Key elements of a well-designed website: order forms, contact forms, the cart view, the checkout flow and the product page — main elements, examples and best practices.
Usability research
An overview of the basic techniques for testing website usability.
