Rules for appointing, running and consulting works councils (the Information and Consultation Directive). Alternative forms of employee representation.
Negotiating collective agreements
The procedure for negotiating, concluding and registering company and multi-employer collective agreements. The role of work and pay regulations.
Resolving collective disputes
The Collective Disputes Act in practice. The stages of a dispute: bargaining, mediation, arbitration, strike. How to prepare the organization for a crisis.
European Works Councils (EWC)
Participation mechanisms in multinational corporations. Information and consultation rights at the transnational level.
Workshop: union-negotiation simulation
A practical negotiation game based on real case studies. Practicing argumentation, finding compromise and managing emotions at the negotiating table.
