LUSH HouseBeauty-treatment booking with filigree UX
A UX concept for the new LUSH House service: the client picks a treatment and a time, sees the nearest salon and her beautician, pays, and after the visit gets the cosmetics chosen during the treatment. The beautician runs the same visit on a tablet.
- The clientThe web app — from the LUSH site to a paid visit
- BackstageThe beautician’s tablet — calendar, visit, treatment
- After the visitThe rating and the treatment’s cosmetics in the client’s app
Illustration: on black, the four cosmetics of the treatment board spread out — a green mask, a white cream, an oat crumble and a plum mask — a bath bomb fizzes beside them, and a phone with the LUSH House Discover screen rises from below.
01 Brief
From booking to the night cream
The goal was a convenient, pleasant experience that encourages clients to use LUSH’s services and buy its cosmetics. The system has two parts: a web app for clients — booking, viewing and editing visits — and a tablet panel for beauticians to manage visits and match products.
LUSH sells fresh, handmade cosmetics — in its shops usually after a talk with a salesperson. LUSH House carries that talk into a treatment room and keeps it on the way: from the treatment through the slot and the payment to the cosmetics the beautician picks during the visit.

02 The LUSH site
In through the House icon
LUSH House does not start from scratch but on the site clients already know: the header gets a House icon with a badge, and under the hero a section with the nearest salon and its treatments.
The header icon
A quick way into LUSH House; a badge tells about changes to a visit. The board also allows the notice on the account icon.
The nearest House
A salon picked by IP address, with an option for the exact location.
Treatment cards
Peeling, mesotherapy, microdermabrasion — every card leads to a specific House.

03 Lush House · Discover
Everything in one field
The House home is one search for salons, treatments, specialists and slots, chips of categories under it, salon cards with their ratings — and a way into the wizard for those who do not know what they are looking for.
Search
It searches salons, treatments, specialists and appointments at once — on Algolia in the concept. Here the results change with every letter.
Filters and chips
Treatment type, available hours, distance; the chips also split the services into face, body and hair.
Salon cards
The rating and the number of reviews as proof of quality, the gallery’s dots — browsing without going deeper.

04 Personalisation wizard
Three questions instead of a catalogue
For someone who does not know the treatments’ names: the wizard asks about the need, the part of the body and the town, then offers treatments and the salons that do them.
The need and the body
Answers instead of treatment names: “rest after a difficult day”, “feet”.
Where are you?
The location from GPS — the browser’s window asks for it — or a town from a list with a search.
Recommendations
Treatments that match the answers, then the salons that do them — and a home SPA with a cosmetics set delivered.

05 The salon page
Several treatments in one visit
The salon page has a gallery, tabs and a treatment search. The client ticks one treatment or more, and a pinned bar at the bottom sums up the choice and leads on to the dates.
Gallery and tabs
The salon’s photos under a swipe; Details with the opening hours and the staff’s biographies; reviews.
Categories
The most popular treatments on top, categories with a description (for SEO), a search without scrolling the whole list.
The pinned bar
A summary and the way on; with several treatments the name turns into “2 treatments”.

Carbon footprint
All cosmetics used during the treatment are ecological. However, specialized devices use electricity, and some parts need to be replaced with new ones. This generates an additional carbon footprint. Help us reduce it.

11 In treatment
Cosmetics by hand
A four-step stepper runs the treatment: interview, treatment, recommendations and notes. The beautician sets how much of each cosmetic she used — and that list reaches the client’s app.
Interview
Yes/no questions before the treatment; the board’s first is about skin diseases.
Products used
A list set for the treatment, free to edit: grams with + and − or the keypad, “Add more” with a search.
Once approved
The products used and recommended appear in the client’s app; at the end, a question about the next visit.
